Test your basenji’s instinct to chase a lure (usually a white plastic bag) over a 600-yard course with several turns that simulate a rabbit’s path. Pass/fail grading.

Most basenjis have a strong desire to chase moving objects and will not require any training for this activity.

FAST CAT

How fast is your basenji? The FAST CAT is a timed 100-yard dash for dogs, run individually. Your dog earns points based on speed and can earn titles as the points accumulate. The AKC issues the titles and keeps a list of the fastest dogs in each breed.

Barn Hunt

Barn Hunt

Basenjis hunt by sight and scent. Barn Hunt lets your basenji use his/her powers of scent to locate a rat hidden safely and securely in a vented tube hidden in straw.

There is a limited amount of training involved in order to expose your dog to rat scent.
